CAYA’s five values

  • CAYA is here to help you set and prioritise your goals; develop strategies, which won’t immediately wither in the face of life’s demands; understand why you may experience a gap between intention and action; and assist you negotiate the inevitable hurdles along the way. Sometimes you just want one or two consultations to set your trajectory before you take it from there. And sometimes you want more assistance, with the opportunity to explore some of the less overt motivations and circumstances which influence your nutrition. The choice is yours. 

  • Of course, you know the best click-bait often has little basis in fact, but you couldn't resist its siren call and now doubt everything you thought you knew. Are you eating like a caveman? Balancing your pH? Fasting to live forever? Maybe you’re convinced various foods are toxic (Sugar! Seed oils! Soy!) and vowed they'll never desecrate your temple again. Let's take a breath. In fact, scientific nutritional understanding across the globe has well-established overarching tenants and, perhaps contrary to popular perception, has only modestly evolved with time. And spoiler alert: most of us were wiser before we ever clicked on that headline.

  • No matter how good on paper, any nutrition goals, if they are to last beyond the first flush of enthusiasm, must also allow scope for you to enjoy life in all its colours, which entails exploring what this means to you. In addition, while good health will naturally enhance your beauty, CAYA will support your appearance goals, but only in so far as they are also congruent with wellbeing.

  • Of all nutrition goals, sustained weight loss is perhaps the most elusive and has driven many otherwise sensible people to the edge of despair. So sometimes it can be more productive, even for a while, to redeploy your formidable abilities towards other objectives, which may promote health independently of weight. Or perhaps you've never struggled to fit into last year’s jeans, but your eating patterns haven't matured with you. CAYA can support you to improve your health whatever your nutrition goals, including nutrition optimisation if you’re also taking weight loss medication.

  • With age comes wisdom, so we know a quick fix might allow you to hold your head up at your high school reunion but it’s no match for entrenched behaviours which may have been developed over many years. Knowing what to eat is a start but overhauling our habits requires self-insight; is usually incremental; often non-linear; and frequently hard-won. It can take some work, so enlisting help makes sense. CAYA will provide an external scaffold to support you while helping you cultivate the confidence to take ownership of your nutrition in a manner that promotes long-term health and respects the magnificent person you are!
