Hi, I’m Amanda, a nutritionist based in Sydney and a Member of the Nutrition Society of Australia. I’m someone who understands how confusing the modern nutrition landscape has become. How has it become so difficult to do something that sounds so easy: Eat food that supports your health?
Even as a teenager, I began to see the gap between the science and what I read in magazines, not to mention the impracticality of following the magazines’ advice and continuing to enjoy life. But that was nothing! Moving forward to the age of social media, I became increasingly dismayed by the pervasive misinformation on offer and the damage it could cause. I even found myself questioning everything I understood and I knew I wasn’t alone.
Originally a veterinarian, I spent most of my career working as an equities analyst. With a naturally methodical approach to life’s issues, working as a vet also instilled the importance of compassion and ultimately pragmatism in the face of emotional and personal matters.
Seeking a new career direction where I could use my skills and interests to help people and their health, and with my thinking on the state of nutrition communication front of mind, I decided to do something about it and went on to complete a Master of Nutrition at Deakin University, Australia’s top-ranked university for nutrition research.
CAYA Nutrition was born.
